PCI Express to PCI Adapter
featuring
PLX Technology PEX 8111 PCI to PCI Express bridge
Windows 2k/2003/2008/XP/Vista/Win7/8 compatible!

PCI Express x1 cards have been scarce since the introduction of the bus several years ago. We now offer a PCI Express x1 adapter for  server or desktop PCs that converts PCI Express x1 bus to PCI.

The adapter utilizes a PLX Technology PEX 8111 PCI to PCI Express bridge chip.  It will accept standard or low profile PCI cards.  As a generic PCI to PCI Express adapter it should work well with most PCI cards.

This adapter allows you to use your existing PCI cards in the PCI Express slot of your mother board.
It  can accept one of the half height cards designed for 2U server chassis environments, such as a Fire wire or Gigabyte Ethernet card. The 32bit 33MHz adapter’s 4 pin connector is connected directly to the power supply of your PC. The heat generated by the card is very low. The adapter has a bracket with a large gap to allow you to plug things into the card.

The adapter will also accept a full height PCI card if your case has the extra headroom to accept a higher card.

Technical benefit: A card in the PCIe slot gets the full dedicated PCI bandwidth, one of the key benefits of the PCIe Point-to-Point infrastructure. This contrasts with  a traditional PCI bus system where the card would have to share the resources with cards in the other slots, and any on-board PCI controllers, such as SATA adaptors or Gigabit Ethernet, which can be quite bandwidth hungry.

  Installation and Configuration

How to Install

1) Power down computer and remove power

2) Insert the adapter into a PCI Express slot.
Note: PCIe slots are backwards compatible with smaller PCIe cards, so a x4 or greater slot can be used.

3) Plug the power 4 pin power connector to the computer's power supply.

4) Plug the PCI card into the adapter.
Note: No drivers are needed to install the adapter card. It only acts as a bridge adapter for the PCI card.

How to Check the Driver Installation

1) Go to the Device Manager:

Windows XP/Vista/Win7/8:  Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager

Windows 2000/2003:  Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager

2) Click on the plus sign (+) next to "System Devices."

3) If the device is installed properly, you will see an additional "PCI  standard PCI to PCI bridge" listed.
